Man Wins $1M Mega Millions Prize

Edward Anderson, the winner in this story, won a $1 million Mega Millions prize and didn’t realize it for quite some time. Essentially, he was walking around with $1 million in his pocket and he didn’t even know it yet!

The 50-year-old Mega Millions prize winner had a $1 million winning ticket sitting in his wallet for the draw he entered on the 21st of June, 2016. “I don’t play the lottery often, I usually wait until the jackpot gets very big. When I do buy lottery tickets, I wait and check them after I’ve got several to check. I was at work and saw the ticket in my wallet. I checked the ticket and almost had a heart attack because I thought tickets expired after six months,” he explained.

Mr. Anderson matched all five of the winning lottery numbers in the draw. They were 6-13-21-49-50. Edward was lucky to have a long time to claim his winnings because a Mega Millions prize doesn’t expire for a year after the draw date.

He bought his ticket at the 7-Eleven store situated on Allen Road in Melvindale. Edward visited the Michigan State Lottery office in Lansing to claim his prize. The winner said that he plans to save the money for a rainy day.
